Job Role:

The 3rd Engineer is a key professional responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of engine room machinery onboard vessels.

This role requires close collaboration with senior engineers to conduct repairs, maintain equipment, and guarantee adherence to safety and environmental regulations.

Main tasks include performing routine maintenance duties, assisting with bunkering operations, and maintaining accurate records to support critical operations.

Additionally, this position involves training and mentoring engineering cadets to develop future leaders in the field.

To be successful in this role, applicants must hold relevant certifications, possess necessary security awareness training, and have recent seagoing experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct regular inspections and perform maintenance tasks to ensure optimal performance.
  • Assist with fueling and waste oil pumping operations while adhering to strict safety protocols.
  • Maintain detailed records, including logbooks and oil records, to support critical operations.
  • Train and mentor engineering students, sharing knowledge and expertise to develop future leaders.
Required Qualifications:
  • Hold an AMSA-issued Certificate of Competency as Engineer Watchkeeper (Motor).
  • Possess Security Awareness Training, Current Passport, AMSA Certificate of Medical Fitness, and Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC).
  • Have relevant seagoing experience within the previous three years, including Confined Space Entry & Rescue and Working Safely at Heights qualifications.
