Urban Planner Graduate Position

This role offers a unique opportunity to launch and build a career in statutory planning within a large and diverse local government area.

As an Urban Planner Graduate, you will support development assessment and community engagement in a Sydney community. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing information on planning and development matters through the council's service.
  • Preparing assessment reports and determinations on development applications and subdivision certificates.
  • Conducting site inspections and preparing supporting documentation.
  • Coordinating stakeholder feedback on development matters.
  • Responding to enquiries at the customer service counter, via email, and by phone.
  • Meeting statutory and council timeframes, contributing to efficient development services delivery.

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning or nearing completion.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Understanding of relevant Acts, statutory planning processes, and customer service delivery.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and professionally in a fast-paced environment.
  • A Class C Driver's Licence.

Desirable qualifications include knowledge of the Building Code of Australia and prior experience in local government or development assessment.
