Senior Mechanical Project Manager

McConnell Dowell is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our project team on a critical infrastructure project in the Northern Territory. This role plays a crucial part in the successful delivery of the project, working closely with our clients and stakeholders to ensure timely and within-budget completion.
Key Responsibilities- Manage on-site mechanical engineering functions through subordinates, including Project Engineers and Cost/Planning Engineers.
- Obtain relevant design parameter information for incorporation into detailed designs and construction specifications.
- Monitor quality and quantities of incoming equipment and material, checking work drawings, construction, and specifications against site plans and conditions, and arranging corrections or modifications as necessary.
- Coordinate the activities of an engineering team, program workloads, and provide technical and administrative guidance to the engineering staff to ensure aims and objectives are effectively and economically achieved.
- Ensure project engineering completion is on time and within budget, recording completed work, costs incurred, materials used, and retaining progress drawings.
- Assign work and assist with reviews for accuracy and adherence to required standards of supplier/subcontractor quotations/purchase orders, as well as subcontractor arrangements.
- Participate in planning future requirements, including machine tools, ancillary equipment, major plant, and labor, directing site surveys and preparatory work prior to construction.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and planning authorities to ensure satisfactory completion of structures and construction work.
- Tertiary qualification in mechanical or civil engineering.
- Specialist experience in project engineering and a working knowledge of project management.
- Balanced knowledge in mechanical engineering with hands-on experience in a similar environment.
- Sound working knowledge of HS&E requirements and implementation of same.
- Strong and empathetic communication skills with proven ability to engage others.
