Job Summary

J.P. Morgan's Payments team is a leading transactions banking business that provides innovative solutions for institutional investors, corporate clients, and financial institutions. As a key member of the team, you will play a pivotal role in driving the service delivery for one of the world's most renowned banks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Payments Operations team in Sydney, ensuring all payments are handled within internal and external cut-offs and standards.
  • Instill a culture of controls, where critical processes are checked and measured daily, and the team adheres to the Bank's payments-related policies.
  • Drive innovation and change in the team, assuming a high level of ownership and being a self-starter with a focus on detail and high-quality deliverables.
  • Maintain standards and adjust effectively to operate within new work structures, processes, or requirements.
  • Identify opportunities and promptly initiate action to minimize loss, escalating potential risks as needed.
  • Effectively communicate with internal and external business partners, being knowledgeable about Australia and New Zealand Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Compliance, and Regulatory requirements.
  • Manage local, regional, and global stakeholders, representing operations in different forums.
  • Play a pivotal role in improving current processes, systems, and reporting.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment, being a problem solver and working with cross-functional teams.
  • Adhere to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) for the Operations Team.
Requirements
  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • Minimum 15 years' experience within a banking operations environment.
  • Expertise in SWIFT payment messages and good knowledge of ISO20022.
  • Experience in managing Australia and New Zealand Transaction Banking products.
  • Sound knowledge of Payments, including High Value Clearing, Low Value Clearing, Cheques Clearing, BPAY, and Real-Time Payments.
  • Project management experience, including process flow/design, documentation, and implementation.
  • Knowledge of Regulatory Reports for Australia and New Zealand, like IFTI and PTR.
  • Experience in dealing with interbank enquiries.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to prepare senior executive-style presentations.
  • Sound knowledge of Domestic and Cross-Border Payments.
  • Sound knowledge of Reconciliation and General Ledger processes and policies.
