Job Title: Academic Resource Specialist
OverviewThe Academic Resource Specialist is a vital member of the educational team, responsible for providing access to information, promoting literacy, and supporting academic growth.
Key Responsibilities- Instructional Management:
- Design and deliver lessons on library and information seeking literacy skills, intellectual property awareness, and digital citizenship.
- Instruct students in print and non-print resources, as well as research techniques.
- Develop integrated curriculum and technology-rich literacy experiences for all students.
- Promote instructional technology to improve learning outcomes.
- Foster a creative environment that integrates the school library into the learning community.
- Collaborate with teachers to create lesson plans and materials aligned with TEKS and ISTE standards.
- Promote the use of existing and emerging technologies to support teaching and learning.
- Provide professional development opportunities as needed.
- Facilitate collaboration and instructional ideas for supplemental programs.
- Promote a love of reading and lifelong learning as a foundational skill.
- Provide recreational and instructional materials in print and digital formats.
- Develop and maintain resources appropriate to the curriculum and learners' needs.
- Establish procedures for resource selection, acquisition, and circulation.
- Apply excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Communicate with principal, teachers, and staff about campus needs.
- Maintain awareness of current research and trends in curriculum, library practices, and technology.

- Continually read fiction and nonfiction including professional resources, grade-appropriate content, and personal materials.
