Framestore is a leading global creative company that pushes the boundaries of visual effects in film, advertising, and other creative fields.

We are seeking a skilled Groom Artist to join our team and contribute to the creation of stunning visual effects in high-end film projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and create high-quality hair, fur, and feather grooms for characters and creatures using Framestore's proprietary tools.
  • Collaborate closely with Creature FX simulation TDs to ensure accurate dynamics and guide hair layouts.
  • Work closely with other departments, including Modelling, Rigging, Animation, and Lighting, to ensure seamless creature workflow.
  • Produce render tests to showcase the groom's progress and ensure it meets the highest standards.
  • Meet tight deadlines while maintaining exceptional quality and attention to detail.
  • Communicate effectively with Production and Leads to ensure smooth project execution.

Essential Skills:

  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in CG creature projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Maya and its grooming tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong understanding of pipeline and workflow issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience working in a Unix/Linux systems environment.
  • Knowledge of dynamic hair simulation or other forms of dynamics.
