Framestore is an Oscar, Bafta, and Emmy award-winning global creative company working in film, advertising, AR/MR/VR, theme park dark rides, and pre/post visualisation work, among many other creative endeavours.

We are looking for Groom Artist to create hair, fur and/or feather grooms for characters and creatures in high end VFX film projects.


Responsibilities:

The creation of hair/fur/feather grooms for characters and creatures using Framestore's proprietary grooming toolsClose liaison with Creature FX simulation TDs over the requirements for dynamics, and the layout of guide hairsLiaison with other departments involved in the creature workflow - Modelling, Rigging, Animation and LightingProducing render tests of the groom as it progressesMeeting set schedules and deadlines while maintaining the highest standardsRegularly communicating with Production and Leads regarding schedules and deadlines

Essential Skills:

Previous experience in a similar rolePrevious experience on CG creature projectsA thorough knowledge of MayaGood problem solving skillsAn appreciation of both the aesthetic and technical requirements of the roleA good eye for detailA strong work ethic, and a willingness to be involved in both development and shot executionThe ability to work as part of a team in a challenging and deadline orientated environmentA good understanding of pipeline and workflow issuesExcellent organisation, communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to liaise across departments

Desirable Skills:

Experience of working under a Unix/Linux systems environmentExperience with dynamic hair simulation, or other forms of dynamics
