General Manager

As a leader in mental health care, you will drive exceptional patient experiences, execute strategy, deliver operational excellence and sustained results.

The Melbourne Clinic is Australia's largest private mental health service, offering comprehensive care through 203 inpatient beds, a standalone Day Program centre, an Outreach Program, and consulting suites across three locations.

We prioritise Patient-Centred Care, delivering respectful and responsive care that respects patients' preferences, needs, and values. Our programs are based on the recovery model.

As the General Manager, you will report directly to the National Manager Mental Health and be responsible for the business performance of The Melbourne Clinic through:

  • Championing quality healthcare delivery and fostering a culture that prioritises exceptional experiences for patients, staff, VMOs, and partners
  • Driving strategic partnerships by cultivating relationships with VMOs, primary care, government, and public hospital leaders to enhance service delivery, integration, and reputation
  • Building high-performing teams by leading and developing adaptive, values-driven teams with a strong internal talent pipeline and high engagement
  • Demonstrating a business-savvy approach with an entrepreneurial and innovative mindset
  • Leading quality and service excellence by overseeing accreditation, quality improvement, and experience outcomes
  • Delivering operational results by taking accountability for financial performance, service outcomes, and key KPIs

Selection Criteria:

  • Tertiary qualifications in business, nursing, or allied health
  • Significant experience in senior healthcare operational leadership positions
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver outstanding business results and operating a private mental health service
  • A track record of developing growth-focused initiatives
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Demonstrated track record in developing strong and productive relationships with doctors
  • Ability to lead a positive culture and develop teams
  • Experience in leading complex negotiations and business development initiatives
  • Commitment to quality healthcare delivery and an understanding of ACHS/National Standards requirements
