We are seeking a highly skilled Energy Policy Lawyer to join our in-house legal team at NIOA Group. As a key member of our team, you will provide legal and governance services to support the development of dynamic energy policy and regulatory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Multidisciplinary Project Teams: Collaborate with project teams on rule change projects and reviews, drafting and reviewing amendments to national energy rules in accordance with energy laws and policy directions.
  • Provide Legal Advice: Offer legal guidance to facilitate understanding of options and legal implications on policy matters, informing the Commission's decision-making.
  • Support Governance and Operation: Provide high-quality and timely legal services to support the governance and operation of the AEMC.
  • Conduct Legal Reviews: Review briefings and decision-making documents to ensure legally compliant outcomes.
  • Provide In-House Legal Support: Offer broader in-house legal support, including procurement, policies and procedures, audit and risk, and compliance program.
Requirements
  • 2-3 Years' Experience: Post-admission experience in a relevant field.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrated knowledge of national regulatory arrangements for the electricity and/or gas sectors, with a willingness to further develop knowledge and skills in providing accurate, timely, and accessible written and oral legal advice.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills to obtain, analyze, and present information on legal issues and provide legal advice.
  • Problem-Solving: Flexible and innovative approach to problem-solving, considering diverse views and requirements.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work well independently and in a close team environment.
  • Analytical Skills: Demonstrated analytical skills to understand complex subject matter quickly.
