Electrical Engineer Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team as a Substation Manager in Sydney. This is a challenging and rewarding role that involves designing substations for the Central West Orana ACJV project.

The successful candidate will be based in Sydney and work out of the Sydney project office, Monday to Friday. As the project progresses, you may need to travel to site which is north of Mudgee in regional NSW.

About the Role
  • Identify all relevant standards and local Customer requirements, ensuring compliance with relevant National / International Standards and contract specifications.
  • Develop different solutions as part of the design optimisation process, considering various factors and constraints.
  • Ensure clash-free design based on clash checks defined by each discipline for internal review steps.
  • Prepare substation design calculations, including earthing design, busbar sizing, SC force calculations, lightning protection, Battery Sizing, cable sizing, cable schedules, circuit breaker selection, bus, fittings, insulator, transformer sizing and arrector selection.
  • Define the primary design subsystems and bills of material, to a level where the design can be accurately costed.
  • Ensure the designs are safe and adhere to required electrical clearances while providing necessary provision for maintenance during the life of the installation.
Critical Criteria for Selection
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in outdoor and indoor substations, preferably 330kV or higher (ideally 500kV).
  • Good knowledge of latest local standards & IEC/IEEE/ANSI standards.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of layout and primary equipment for substation projects up to 500kV.
  • Proficient with various software tools, such as AutoCAD, ETAP, etc.
