Job Summary

Royal Prince Alfred Hospital is a major metropolitan tertiary referral hospital and a principal provider of specialist healthcare. It remains one of the nation's most respected hospitals, with a distinguished history serving the health needs of local, statewide, national and international communities.

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Royal Prince Alfred is a 34 bed unit with 22 ICU funded beds and 12 lower dependency beds. The role will see you responsible for the provision of patient centred and evidence informed nursing care that promotes improved neonatal health outcomes.

Staff are supported through a series of educational workshops throughout the first 12 months, designed to support your progression throughout the neonatal unit from caring for low dependency neonates through to ICU level. You will be supported during your time in the NICU by our Clinical Nurse Educators and senior colleagues to ensure you feel supported and are able to progress your career in neonatal nursing.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide high-quality patient care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
  2. Develop and maintain strong relationships with multidisciplinary teams.
  3. Participate in educational workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.
  4. Contribute to a positive and supportive work environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Current nurse or midwife registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
  • Understanding of evidence informed practice and critical thinking.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills within a multidisciplinary team.
