Job Title: Kitchen Steward

We are seeking a highly skilled and efficient Culinary Team Assistant to join our team. As a Kitchen Steward, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness, hygiene and organisation of our kitchen facilities, ensuring a smooth and safe operation for our culinary team.

  • Clean and sanitise all kitchen areas, including floors, walls and work surfaces, adhering to established cleaning schedules and food safety standards.
  • Wash, sanitise and properly store all kitchen equipment, utensils, dishes and glassware using industrial dishwashers or hand-washing techniques as appropriate.
  • Assist in the maintenance of food storage areas, including refrigerators, freezers and dry storage, ensuring proper organisation and cleanliness.
  • Remove and dispose of kitchen waste regularly, keeping the kitchen and waste areas free from refuse.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, reporting any hazards or maintenance issues to the Kitchen Management.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to maintain an efficient and organised work environment.
  • Participate in regular cleaning inspections and quality control checks.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and assist with additional kitchen duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 6 months experience in a similar role, preferably in a commercial kitchen or hospitality setting.
  • Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and capable of heavy lifting, pushing and pulling.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, public holidays and at night time as needed.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new skills and procedures.
  • Basic understanding of kitchen operations and equipment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
