Job Opportunity:

A challenging and rewarding role for a Mental Health Specialist to work with adults in custody, improving their mental health, well-being and rehabilitation.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting independent risk assessments of harm to self or others, providing psychoeducation related to mental health conditions, symptoms and treatment options, delivering individual or group-based brief interventions aimed at developing coping skills and building resilience, and maintaining knowledge of psychopathology, diagnostic classification systems and clinical assessment tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and develop appropriate intervention plans
  • Provide education and support to clients on mental health issues and promote healthy behaviors
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective service delivery and client outcomes
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client interactions and progress

Requirements:

  • General or provisional registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA (or eligibility to obtain registration)
  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology or Behavioural Science
  • Compliance with National Psychology Board and AHPRA registration standards
