We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Workplace Health and Safety Advisor to join our team at Hostplus. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment for our employees.
Key Responsibilities- Provide Expert Guidance: Act as a trusted advisor to our leaders and employees on all WHS matters, ensuring compliance with relevant legal frameworks, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure Compliance: Develop and implement adequate systems and controls to enable Hostplus to comply with all relevant workplace health and safety laws across all jurisdictions.
- Lead the WHS Committee: Chair the WHS Committee and ensure that the group is performing all required duties, including conducting safety inspections, emergency evacuation drills, and training staff in safety-related roles.
- Develop Safety Education: Collaborate with the Organisational Development team to develop and facilitate safety-related education programs.
- Manage WHS Policies and Procedures: Maintain relevant policies, procedures, systems, information, and training programs to support and communicate effective WHS practices across the business.
- Reporting and Compliance: Regularly report to the Chief People Officer, including Board and Committee reports, and ensure workers' compensation insurance arrangements are in place.
- Incident and Hazard Management: Manage and report on the Incident and Hazard registers, conduct ergonomic assessments, and manage third-party safety audits.
- Workers Compensation Claims: Manage workers' compensation claims, including creating and supporting return-to-work plans.
- Investigations and Reporting: Assist and lead investigations and reporting of workplace incidents.
We are looking for a candidate with:
- Minimum 4 years' experience in a similar role within a corporate environment.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of national WHS laws and best practice.
- Experience in psychosocial risk management, including continued improvements in how psychosocial risks are investigated and managed.
- Some knowledge of human resource management laws and best practices.
- Experience with injury management, Workcover claims, and rehab and return-to-work programs.
- The ability to develop strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong relationship building and management skills.
- The ability to work effectively within a high-pressure environment.
- The ability to provide timely and accurate services to internal and external clients to meet service standards.
- Experience in the development, evaluation, and ongoing maintenance of strategic and operational workplace mental health and wellbeing systems and programs.
- Strong technical and problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to identify and implement continuous improvement within current work practices.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Work, Health and Safety, Human Resources, or equivalent.
