Mining Engineer Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Mining Engineer to join our team in the Hunter Valley region of New South Wales. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the development of long-term mine plans, budgets, and forecasts.


Job Description
  • The role involves working closely with senior engineers to produce detailed mine plans, schedules, and financials;
  • Contributing to the budget and five-year plan processes by providing reserves and schedules;
  • Evaluating various mine planning options to improve operational efficiency;
  • Maintaining an inventory of medium-term designs up to 18 months;
  • Liaising with operational, projects, and engineering teams to ensure delivery of plans;
  • Coaching and mentoring other team members, including graduates;
  • Ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and site standards;
  • Applying continuous improvement methodologies to all tasks.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or a related discipline;
  • Substantial experience in large-scale mining operations, preferably in coal;
  • Proficiency in CAD design software packages such as Deswik, Minex, or Vulcan;
  • An eye for detail and ability to develop practical and achievable mine designs and schedules;
  • Strong communication and time management skills, along with problem-solving abilities;
  • Capacity to build relationships and influence key stakeholders;
  • Leadership, mentoring, and coaching skills;
  • Advanced MS Office skills.
