Job Title: Strategic Legal Advisor

Description:

The South Australia Police is seeking a distinguished legal professional to assume the role of strategic legal advisor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic legal advice to the Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner and wider Executive Leadership Team on police operations, indemnity, insurance, risk management, HR, administrative decisions, information release, MOUs, commercial arrangements, coronial inquests and the Commissioner's enquiries.
  • Oversee the legislative reform agenda and ensure SAPOL's disciplinary and anti-corruption systems are operating effectively.
  • Deliver expert legal counsel and guide the organisation through complex legal landscapes, ensuring that all actions align with organisational goals and values.

Requirements:

  • A legal qualification, admission or eligibility for admission as a practitioner of the Supreme Court of South Australia.
  • An unrestricted Practicing Certificate.
  • Expertise in strategic legal planning, legislative reform and policy advisory.
  • Exceptional executive-level communication skills, personal integrity, strong ethical standards and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
