Digital Preservation Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Digital Preservation Technical Analyst to join our team at the Digital Preservation Coalition. As a key member of our Preservica Implementation Group, you will provide technical expertise and advice on digital preservation strategies for our legacy and contemporary digital collections.
Key Responsibilities:
- Make expert use of a wide range of legacy and forensic hardware and software systems to analyze and identify data types, file formats, and their dependencies.
- Undertake research and complex problem-solving to provide expert advice in the technical assessment, extraction, migration, and/or emulation of digital collections.
- Develop and implement ingest and migration workflows, including writing and executing simple scripts in accordance with our application development standards.
- Prepare reports that document digital preservation decisions and contribute to the continuous improvement of business rules, procedures, and policies for acquiring, managing, and preserving digital collections.
- Work collaboratively with our multi-disciplinary Preservica Implementation Group to develop procedures and workflows for the ongoing stewardship of digital heritage collections.
- Support the development of digital preservation capacity in the Library by identifying development needs and opportunities, and by contributing to training programs.
- Maintain strong collaborative working relationships with business units, vendors, and key stakeholders.
- Maintain knowledge of current and emerging developments in digital preservation theory and practice through self-directed professional reading and active participation in professional networks.
