We are seeking a skilled Digital Preservation Technical Analyst to join our team at the Digital Preservation Coalition.
About the Role
The successful candidate will provide technical expertise and advice on digital preservation strategies for legacy and contemporary digital collections.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize advanced technical skills to analyze and identify data types, file formats, and their dependencies.
- Conduct research and complex problem-solving to provide expert advice on the technical assessment, extraction, migration, and/or emulation of digital collections.
- Develop and implement ingest and migration workflows, including writing and executing scripts in accordance with our application development standards.
- Prepare reports documenting digital preservation decisions and contribute to the continuous improvement of business rules, procedures, and policies for acquiring, managing, and preserving digital collections.
- Collaborate with the Preservica Implementation Group to develop procedures and workflows for the ongoing stewardship of digital heritage collections.
- Support the development of digital preservation capacity in the organization by identifying development needs and opportunities, and contributing to training programs.
- Maintain strong working relationships with business units, vendors, and key stakeholders.
- Stay up-to-date with current and emerging developments in digital preservation theory and practice through self-directed professional reading and active participation in professional networks.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of digital preservation principles and practices, as well as excellent technical skills and problem-solving abilities.
