Job Description

The Digital Preservation Coalition is seeking a highly skilled Digital Collections Asset Manager to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in reviewing and improving the management of our digital collections.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review the physical and digital collections to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies for better management.
  • Develop and implement cataloguing standards for our digital asset management system (DAMS) and analogue photographic library to improve access and use of our collections.
  • Design and implement a framework for managing rights and compliance issues, providing support and training to colleagues across the organization.
  • Establish collecting and disposal policy criteria for our analogue and digital collections, working closely with our collections management policy framework.
  • Implement workflows for good digital asset management, including acquisition, ingest, cataloguing, and retrieval, and work with our Digital Archivist to implement best practices in digital preservation.
  • Advise on opportunities for sharing content more widely, including making some content available under Creative Commons licensing and commercial exploitation.
  • Manage the NTS collections image reproduction service, including image licensing, sourcing, and resizing images from our systems, and processing invoice requests.
  • Develop the business case for a program of new photography for our image library and manage the budget for commissioning new photography.
Requirements:
  • Strong understanding of digital collections management and preservation principles.
  • Experience with digital asset management systems and cataloguing standards.
  • Ability to design and implement frameworks for managing rights and compliance issues.
  • Excellent communication and training skills.
  • Ability to work closely with colleagues across the organization.
