The APS is seeking a highly skilled Security Advisor to join our team in Melbourne. As a Security Advisor, you will play a crucial role in identifying vulnerabilities, evaluating risks, and implementing effective strategies to safeguard our people, assets, and information.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct security risk assessments and develop risk management strategies
- Validate security practices and measures established to protect Defence people, information, and assets
- Provide protective security policy, advice, and assurance to Defence business areas and external Defence industry company and stakeholder sites
- Contribute to the establishment of governance and policies associated with physical security zones

Requirements:
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including the ability to mentor team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development
- Experience in conducting security risk assessments and developing risk management strategies, or a willingness to learn and develop expertise in this area
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex security data and trends
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders
- A passion for conducting facilitating security awareness training and education programs to employees

The Defence Security (DS) Division in Security and Estate Group (SEG) provides adaptable security services to Defence and defence industry. DS Division keeps the Defence enterprise safe by protecting and advancing Defence's strategic interests through the provision of protective security services.
The work of an APS 6 - Security Advisor is conducted in a regional-based team that undertakes complex and administrative protective security assurance activities and tasks in support of DS Division's customer needs.
