Surface Water Resource Specialist

The Surface Water Assessment and Modelling team plays a crucial role in ensuring informed decisions about Victoria's surface water resources are supported by the best available information, assessments and modelling.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake modelling tasks and technical assessments of surface water resources to inform decision-making, analyse outcomes and assess risks for effective management of Victoria's surface water resources.
  • Contribute to modelling activities supporting the Basin Plan Review and Sustainable Diversion Limit Adjustment Mechanism projects, as well as other initiatives such as Long Term Water Resource Assessment and Urban Water Strategy.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Appropriate tertiary qualification in science, environmental or engineering is mandatory.
  • Technical data analysis skills and experience in report writing are highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of modelling including experience and proficiency in application of various surface water modelling tools is highly desirable.
  • Skills in data processing using scripting languages such as R and Python are highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Victorian water industry and/or the Murray-Darling Basin is highly desirable.
