Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Hydrologist to join our team and contribute to the planning, execution, and delivery of various water resource projects.


The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking and leading hydrology, flood modelling and dam safety projects, and providing specialist support to other technical disciplines within the organisation.


This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with experience in delivering extreme flood hydrology studies, assessing the likelihood of dam crest flood events, and estimating the depth of dam overtopping associated with a probable maximum flood event (PMF).


The role requires a strong understanding of the ANCOLD consequence assessment guidelines and the ability to apply these to assess consequence categories for dams, and calculate population at risk (PAR) and potential loss of life (PLL).



Key Responsibilities
  • Undertaking and leading a range of hydrology, flood modelling and dam safety projects
  • Completing office based hydrological, flood modelling and consequence assessments, including the use of a variety of modelling software packages
  • Preparation of risk assessments and method statements
  • Data collation and analysis
  • Providing specialist hydrological, flood modelling and dam safety support to other technical disciplines within the organisation


Requirements
  • Degree in Engineering or related field
  • Author technical reports that detail the type, methodologies, results of field activities, interpretation of results and impact assessment
  • Coaching and mentoring
  • Able to directly liaise with clients in a confident manner and lead meetings with clients
  • Build relationships with clients, contribute to business development and support the pursuit of new opportunities with existing and new clients
  • Effectively collaborate with the wider water resource practice to share technical skills, resources or work packages
  • Attain/maintain proficiency in the use of standard tools, techniques and equipment that are required for the undertaking, completion and delivery of your work
  • Liaison with stakeholders and regulators
  • Presentation of information to stakeholders in meetings in a concise and effective manner
