As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for fabricating, assembling and welding thin gauge metal components to various specifications as required from relevant detailed drawings.

You will work with different types of metals including Zincaneal, Galvabond, Mild Steel and Stainless Steel, using MIG and TIG welding techniques. Additionally, you will grind and clean all steel, polish stainless steel, and inspect completed welds for quality and accuracy.

Your tasks will also include adjusting components where necessary using a grinder or other cutting tools, fabrication of profile lengths using bending and cutting machinery, and identifying different material types and thicknesses.

You must be able to read and understand workshop drawings, conduct quality control checks on your own work, and complete required paperwork.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Fabricate, assemble and weld thin gauge metal components to various specifications as required from relevant detailed drawings.
  • MIG and TIG light gauge steel 1.1mm to 3mm – Zincaneal, Galvabond, Mild Steel and Stainless Steel.
  • Grind and clean all steel, polish stainless Steel.
  • Inspect completed welds for quality and accuracy, ensuring they meet required standards and structural integrity.
  • Adjust components where necessary using a grinder or other cutting tools.
  • Fabrication of profile lengths using bending and cutting machinery.
  • Identify different material types and thicknesses.
  • Read and understand workshop drawings.
  • Conduct quality control checks on own Work.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Educational background in a relevant field
  • Equivalent work experience
  • Welding Experience
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to read a tape measure, pressure gauge, level and square
  • Ability to operate sheet metal machinery and welding equipment
  • Ability and willingness to follow direction as well as the ability to work independently
