Fabric Buying Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Fabric Buying Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, sourcing, and purchasing high-quality fabrics that meet our design and sales strategies.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of textiles, including different fabric types, their properties, performance, and applications. You will also possess excellent trend forecasting and analysis skills, with the ability to identify and interpret fashion trends relative to commercial objectives.

Skillfully negotiating with suppliers and managing orders will be essential in this role. You must have a keen eye for quality control, ensuring that fabrics meet required standards for color, texture, durability, and other specifications.

In addition, you will work closely with designers, production teams, and other stakeholders to ensure efficient, on-time, and profitable fabric sourcing and production.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Developing and implementing fabric development and buying strategies
  • Sourcing high-quality fabrics that meet our design and sales strategies
  • Negotiating with suppliers to secure favorable prices and payment terms
  • Ensuring timely delivery of fabrics and managing inventory levels
  • Collaborating with designers, production teams, and other stakeholders to ensure efficient and profitable fabric sourcing and production

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in fabric development and buying, design, or product development
  • Strong understanding of textiles, including different fabric types, their properties, performance, and applications
  • Excellent trend forecasting and analysis skills, with the ability to identify and interpret fashion trends relative to commercial objectives
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with suppliers and negotiate favorable outcomes
  • Ability to analyze data, identify issues, and propose solutions
  • Organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Working knowledge of French and Italian languages preferred
