About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Principal – WA Future System Planning and Forecasting to lead the long-term energy outlook for Western Australia's electricity and gas markets.

Your work will play a crucial role in ensuring secure, reliable, and affordable energy as part of Australia's energy transition.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to flagship energy planning reports such as the Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM) and the WA Gas Statement of Opportunities (GSOO)
  • Coordinate AEMO's input in significant planning projects, including the Whole of System Plan and the Transmission System Plan
  • Analyse and model energy demand and supply trends, including integrating electricity and gas systems
  • Communicate insights on emerging energy system challenges in AEMO's Quarterly Energy Dynamics (QED) report
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across business, industry, and government to ensure alignment with energy transition goals
Requirements:
  • University degree in engineering, science, mathematics, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in the energy industry, with expertise in quantitative analysis and long-term planning
  • Strong understanding of the power system operations, alongside an understanding of the political, legal, and regulatory framework of the energy sector
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with experience in multi-disciplinary environments
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and engage with key stakeholders
