VFX Trainer

About the Role:
The VFX Trainer will play a pivotal part in the development and instruction of training courses for new and current employees across all global studios, with a focus on Industrial Light & Magic's Sydney studios.
Main Responsibilities:
- Manage all Studio Talent Group programs within the Sydney studio, driving talent development and growth.
- Deliver virtual technical training courses to ILM employees worldwide, ensuring they possess the necessary skills to excel in their roles.
- Develop, evaluate, and maintain comprehensive technical documentation using Confluence, ensuring seamless knowledge transfer.
- Participate in shotwork in assigned productions, contributing to the creation of visually stunning experiences.
- Lead Jedi Academy efforts by designing curriculum and documentation for entry-level talent, empowering them to succeed.
- Collaborate with studio leaders to understand technical training requirements, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Work closely with the Training Coordinator to schedule and set up training sessions, guaranteeing a seamless experience for participants.
- Customize new starter technical training to meet the needs and goals of each trainee's assigned production, fostering a culture of excellence.
- Evaluate and report on trainee progress to the Director of Talent Development, department managers, and production supervisors, driving continuous improvement.
- Partner with Talent Management to identify and address gaps in technical ability, ensuring the studio's talent pool remains competitive.
Requirements:
- Stay informed on the latest training and development methods and techniques, applying this knowledge to drive innovation.
- Foster strong relationships across time zones, delivering exceptional service to global partners.
- Be proficient in industry-standard software packages (Maya, Katana, Nuke, Houdini, Photoshop) or proprietary equivalents, as well as G Suite (Gmail, Docs, Drive).
- Have knowledge of Linux, shell scripting, Python, and C/C++ (desirable).
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Visualization, or a related technical field.
- Possess at least 8 years of production experience in visual effects for film, commercials, or television.
