Youth Residential Care Worker

About the Role

As a Youth Residential Care Worker, you will be responsible for providing therapeutic support and care to vulnerable young people in the Out of Home Care sector. Your role will involve creating a safe and nurturing home environment that promotes emotional well-being and stability.

  • Develop a strong relationship with young people based on empathy, trust, and respect.
  • Support educational, social, and recreational pursuits that cater to their interests and abilities.
  • Work collaboratively with other professionals to ensure holistic care and support.
  • Provide opportunities for young people to develop life skills, such as household management and time management.

Working with young people who have experienced trauma requires a strong understanding of best practice therapeutic interventions and guidelines. You will need to remain calm and composed under pressure while maintaining a professional demeanor at all times.

Required Skills and Qualifications

A successful candidate will possess:

  • A Certificate IV in Child, Youth & Family Intervention or equivalent qualification.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to transport young people using a valid driver's license.
