
Community Enforcement Specialist

The Response Services Officer will work collaboratively as part of a multi-functional team within the Response Services Unit and across the broader Customer Response Branch and Customer Engagement & Planning Services Group.
Investigating complaints and serving notices to ensure compliance with Local Laws, State Acts, and Regulations is a key aspect of this role.
- Conduct investigations into complaints and serve notices to property owners to ensure compliance with Council's policies and procedures.
- Impound abandoned vehicles, vessels, animals found straying, and other goods and materials illegally placed on land under Council control.
- Provide professional advice and support in relation to animal management, ensuring property owners comply with directions, notices, or instructions issued by officers for the keeping of animals on the property.
- Make timely enquiries and gather evidence for the prosecution of offences against Council's Local Laws, State Acts, and Regulations, issue and serve infringement notices, and appear for Council as a witness in court.
As a Response Services Officer, you will require substantial relevant experience with demonstrated ability to apply legislation, policies, standards, regulations, and procedures relevant to the area of work.
You will need to have demonstrated investigative and analytical skills, with the ability to actively listen, document briefs of evidence, gather sensitive information, and ensure the application of procedural fairness to inform quality recommendations that are in line with Council policy.
A Certificate IV in Government (Statutory Compliance) or similar relevant experience is required for this role.
