About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Academic Social Work Specialist to join our team at the University of South Australia. As a key member of our Academic Unit, you will be responsible for the development, teaching, and coordination of Social Work courses within our undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

You will contribute to the Academic Unit's research agenda, independently and as part of a team, to support teaching and research outcomes. Your expertise in Social Work will be essential in maintaining and developing our scholarly, research, and professional activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and teach Social Work courses within our undergraduate and postgraduate programs
  • Contribute to the Academic Unit's research agenda, including the development of research proposals and grant applications
  • Supervise higher degree research candidates and contribute to the development of research projects
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement teaching and learning strategies
  • Contribute to the development of academic policies and procedures

Requirements:

  • PhD qualification in Social Work or a related field
  • Eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers
  • Demonstrated high-quality teaching outcomes and a strong commitment to continuous improvement of teaching practice and learning outcomes
  • Demonstrated commitment to establishing a program of research in working with children and families, with a growing publication record and experience in attracting research income
  • Experience in the supervision of higher degree research candidates
  • Demonstrated high standard of interpersonal ability, written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work as a member of a diverse team
