Infrastructure Manager Job Description

The Infrastructure Manager plays a crucial role in the delivery of complex infrastructure projects. This position requires a high degree of technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing the planning, coordination, and execution of utility-related works across a complex, multi-stakeholder infrastructure precinct. The focus is on ensuring the successful integration of utility services-power, water, gas, sewer, ICT, and others-into existing and new precinct assets while supporting broader strategic objectives related to sovereign capability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end delivery of utility integration projects, from initiation and planning through to commissioning and handover.
  • Develop detailed project plans, scopes, and budgets in alignment with corporate governance and funding models.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, utility providers, government stakeholders, and industry partners to ensure seamless integration.
  • Lead risk identification, assessment, and mitigation processes across utility interfaces.
  • Provide technical and commercial oversight of consultants, designers, and contractors to ensure compliance with Australian standards and infrastructure master plans.
  • Administer utilities design and construction contracts, to ensure construction and industry standards are maintained and comply with relevant regulations.
  • Support broader precinct planning and infrastructure upgrades related to precinct operations.
  • Prepare and present reports, briefings, and updates to executive leadership, government stakeholders, and project partners.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in infrastructure delivery or utilities project management within large-scale construction, defence, or infrastructure environments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary projects with complex stakeholder environments.
  • Strong understanding of utility design, construction, and commissioning processes.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and contractual obligations.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Must hold a current drivers' licence (Class C - car).
