Electoral Project Coordinator

The Australian Electoral Commission's electoral integrity is paramount, and we seek a skilled professional to maintain an impartial and independent electoral system.

We have a dispersed network of 151 electoral divisions, with 50 located across New South Wales and the ACT. Our Sydney CBD office and several regional sites enable us to serve the needs of our constituents effectively.

As an Electoral Project Coordinator, you will assist in the day-to-day management of corporate governance and election readiness functions. This includes administering planning, coordinating short-term tasks, and longer-term initiatives. During an election event, you will deliver key projects as required.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing administrative support, accurately recording project progression, and completing tasks within strict timeframes;
  • Assisting with the planning, scheduling, and completion of project components and monitoring progress, including checking schedules and budget data;
  • Conducting research and analysis as needed, reaching evidence-based conclusions to assist in project management, preparation, and coordination;
  • Maintaining key internal and external relationships, including liaising with stakeholders on project or operational issues and responding to stakeholder needs and expectations;
  • Exercising independent judgment and resolving workplace issues with guidance and monitoring from management.

To excel in this role, you should have:

- A demonstrated ability to provide high-quality administrative support and accurately record project progress;
- Experience assisting with the planning, scheduling, and completion of project components and an ability to monitor progress;
- Ability to conduct research and analysis as required and reach evidence-based conclusions;
- Ability to remain positive and respond to increased pressure in a calm manner while achieving goals within tight timeframes;
- Demonstrated ability to maintain key internal and external relationships;
- Experience in exercising independent judgment and resolving workplace issues.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Australian citizenship;
  • Active involvement in political affairs may compromise the AEC's neutrality and is not eligible;
  • Applicants must consent to undergo, obtain, and maintain a character clearance;
  • Security clearance is also required for this role.
