
Water Resources Decarbonisation Specialist

The position of Postdoctoral Research Fellow involves leading cutting-edge research in decarbonisation, collaborating with industry and community partners, and contributing to national sustainability goals.
The successful applicant will develop and implement research strategies for scaling on-farm practices to reduce water-related emissions in irrigation regions.
Collaborating with industry partners, conducting workshops, and delivering capacity-building programs are essential components of this role. Spatial data analysis, site-specific modelling, and scenario analyses on water-energy systems also play a significant part.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing research strategies for scaling on-farm practices to reduce water-related emissions in irrigation regions.
- Collaborating with industry partners, conducting workshops, and delivering capacity-building programs to increase adoption of sustainable irrigation practices.
- Performing spatial data analysis, site-specific modelling, and scenario analyses on water-energy systems to support on-farm decarbonisation.
A PhD in water resources engineering or a related field is required, as well as demonstrated expertise in decarbonising on-farm water use and irrigation system efficiency, with a strong publication record and excellent communication skills.
Additional qualifications include experience in capacity building and stakeholder engagement to drive technology adoption, proficiency in energy management for irrigation and assessing renewable energy options, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in interdisciplinary research environments.
