The UNSW Canberra invites applications for a Teaching and Research role within the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering. The position covers work by academics within the school who have ARC fellowship appointments.
The role focuses on high-quality teaching and research in transport engineering, with emphasis on emerging technologies such as predictive modelling, real-time traffic analytics, and autonomous vehicle integration. The appointment offers the opportunity to contribute to sustainable mobility and smart infrastructure in a leading transport engineering environment.
This is a full-time, fixed-term position based in Kensington – Sydney, Australia. The role reports to the Head of School and has no direct reports.
Responsibilities- Deliver high-quality teaching and research in transport engineering, with a focus on emerging technologies.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of undergraduate and/or postgraduate programs and curricula.
- Engage in high-impact research and scholarly activity aligned with ARC fellowship appointments, as part of a teaching and research team.
- Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines and participate in service activities within the School and University.
- Supervise and mentor students where appropriate and contribute to student equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives.
- Maintain awareness of industry trends and opportunities for work-integrated learning and external engagement.
- A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
- Proven commitment to keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
- Experience in teaching and learning design, development, and delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
- Experience using and/or designing with educational technologies and online delivery methods.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence, including curriculum design and development across varied levels and scales.
- Knowledge of industry or work-integrated learning (desirable).
- Ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and to promote equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
- Demonstrated research track record with high-quality, impactful outcomes and potential for leadership in research.
- Involvement with the profession and/or industry.
- Strong communication and networking skills with a diverse range of students and staff.
- Ability to work collaboratively in teams and across disciplines.
- Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Commitment to UNSW's aims, objectives, values, and related policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and willingness to undertake relevant training.
