Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will enhance our strategic position within Australian and international markets, leveraging significant experience in executing effective business development strategies and a track record of achieving growth targets.

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy, pipeline, and partnerships with Defence clients and primes.
  • Build a cohesive, deliberate strategy across the Defence Industry sector to position our products, services, and solutions for growth.
  • Contribute to revenue growth by identifying and securing opportunities to expand our reach within client segments.
  • Lead large capture campaigns, focusing on programs such as AUKUS & GWEO.
  • Position us as a Defence supplier of choice with a focus on national markets with a view to growing into international markets.
  • Establish, develop, and maintain best practice business development and governance processes.
  • Lead a small, high-performing business development team dedicated to client segments, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with customers to identify new business opportunities, proactively communicate and resolve program issues, and provide strategic direction to program teams.
About You

  • A proven leader who has pursued and won complex bids with the ADF and Defence Primes – ideally with experience in test and evaluation services and products. Experience in mission systems/sustainment is desirable.
  • A strong connection within relevant program offices with the ADF and Defence primes accounts.
  • Commercial acumen with a proven ability to develop and execute effective sales strategies with a track record of exceeding revenue targets.
  • Exhibits a strategic and high-achiever mindset, adept at proactively identifying and converting high-value opportunities into sustainable new business revenue.
  • Deep understanding of the Australian Defence procurement environment and Defence tendering processes.
  • Experience leading, developing, and preparing responses to Commonwealth approaches to market, up to ASDEFCON level of complexity.
  • Sound understanding of government business development, contract structures, and proposal processes.
  • Sound understanding of the employment and broad applicability of next-generation warfighting is highly desired.
  • STEM degree or relevant experience in defence industry or other aligned high-tech companies.
