About Our Team

Defence Member and Family Support (DMFS) offers a comprehensive range of programs and services to support Commanders, Australian Defence Force members, and their families in managing the military way of life.

We aim to enhance self-reliance among Defence families and increase community capacity to address their needs. Our team consists of professionals who work collaboratively to provide crisis support, advice to Commanders, referrals to external agencies, information on local services, education advice, and general information on Defence matters.

The Role

This position is integral to our Sydney-based team, focusing on facilitating connections between Defence families and their wider community. The key responsibilities include:

  • Engaging with Defence families, key stakeholders, and the broader community
  • Organising and coordinating social functions to promote networking among Defence families and the wider community
  • Developing innovative approaches to promote and deliver DMFS programs and events
  • Providing valuable information and advice about local community resources and services
  • Participating in Command and Unit facilitated events and functions for families
  • Building knowledge of community services and engaging with service providers to inform them of Defence family needs
  • Working as part of a dynamic and multidisciplinary team

Our Ideal Candidate

We seek an individual who can utilise their initiative to create engaging ways to connect Defence families with the local community. Strong stakeholder engagement is essential. The ideal candidate will be a team player with strong organisational skills, excellent communication abilities, event planning expertise, and the ability to coordinate functions, prioritise tasks, and maintain confidentiality.

Benefits

This role offers a competitive salary range of $76,277 - $83,274, plus up to 15.4% Superannuation. Some after-hours and weekend work may be required.
