Security Assurance Manager

The Department of Education VIC is seeking a highly skilled Security Assurance Manager to lead our audit and assurance efforts. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective identification and management of security obligations to support the successful delivery of our information technology strategic and operational plans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain a robust audit framework to support second-line audit review procedures and governance.
- Lead a team of direct reports to develop and oversee a calendar of assurance activities, ensuring timely and effective delivery.
- Collaborate closely with the Assurance division to ensure alignment with their framework and procedures, promoting consistent oversight and risk management.
- Prepare formal findings reports and briefings to communicate progress, exceptions, and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Evaluate and develop assurance reviews to support new programs and evolving solutions, ensuring compliance with relevant security standards and frameworks.
Requirements:
- Proven leadership experience in assurance programs, overseeing a team of analysts responsible for assurance and exception reporting.
- Experience establishing structures to periodically monitor assurance and alignment with information security standards, such as the Victorian Protective Data Security Standard and Commonwealth Protective Security Policy Framework.
- Ability to provide audit reporting to steering committees on findings and progress of specific assurance reviews, with a focus on continuous improvement and advisory services.
- Strong consulting experience in risk management and compliance, with a focus on supporting continuous improvement and advisory services.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Risk Management or a related discipline.
