The role of a High Value and Complex Claims Manager is pivotal in ensuring claims are resolved efficiently and fairly. This individual will oversee a portfolio of high-value and complex Specialty claims, providing strategic advice and managing litigation.
Key Responsibilities- Manage end-to-end claims across class actions, cluster claims, and high-value exposures.
- Provide strategic advice on policy interpretation, litigation, and claim resolution.
- Collaborate with internal legal teams, panel firms, and counsel to manage legal complexities.
- Attend mediations, settlement conferences, and court proceedings as required.
- Support technical oversight and mentoring within the Specialty claims team.
- Develop governance frameworks and reporting for emerging risks and financial impacts.
- Promote alignment of claims strategies across internal stakeholders.
- Contribute to process improvements and cost reduction initiatives.
- Tertiary qualifications in law, business, or insurance.
- Industry qualifications such as Diploma in Financial Services.
- 5–10 years' experience managing complex liability or professional indemnity claims.
- Litigation experience, including briefing panel firms or direct involvement.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
- Experience mentoring and developing team members.
- Sound knowledge of relevant legislation and claims systems.
