">About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to join our team as a Flood Operations Specialist. You will play a critical role in supporting our national flood operations, including monitoring rainfall and river height data, running hydrologic flood models, and preparing and issuing flood warning products.

You will work closely with colleagues across the Bureau's value chain and external stakeholders, including emergency responders and water management agencies, to ensure that our customers receive timely and accurate information during severe weather events.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of operational flood forecasting and the total flood warning system, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving skills. ">Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor rainfall and river height data, run hydrologic flood models, and prepare and issue flood warning products
  • Work closely with colleagues across the Bureau's value chain and external stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate information during severe weather events
  • Support national flood operations, ensuring systems are operationally ready and resources are available
  • Making evidence-based decisions under pressure using up-to-date science, sound judgement, and best-practice principles
