Disability Support Officer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Disability Support Officer to deliver high-quality support to individuals with complex disabilities and high needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide advanced care and hands-on support to participants with high and complex needs, promoting independence, dignity, and cultural sensitivity at all times.
  • Coordinate and supervise support workers to ensure consistent and high-quality service delivery, meeting NDIS practice standards and participant rights.
  • Work closely with participants, their families, and external service providers to achieve NDIS goals and maintain a strong support network.
  • Respond calmly and effectively to challenging situations, ensuring safety and wellbeing at all times.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience working with people with high and complex needs, demonstrating expertise in team coordination and support worker supervision.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NDIS practice standards, participant rights, and duty of care, as well as exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity when working with people from diverse backgrounds, along with excellent organisational and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Certificate IV in Disability, Community Services, or Mental Health, or a Diploma or Degree in a health-related field (e.g., Nursing, Allied Health, Psychology).
