About the Role

The Electrical/Electronic Systems Technician will provide technical expertise to ensure the safe, reliable, and high-performance operation of the 4 accelerators at ANSTO. This role will support operations, contributing to maintenance and development, ensuring the facilities are in a safe and ready-to-use state for accelerator researchers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and implement routine and unscheduled maintenance of plant and equipment, using technical expertise to diagnose, repair, and return equipment back to service in a timely manner.
  • Plan and execute improvements and upgrades to existing systems.
  • Comply with all local electrical safety rules.
  • Assist in the design, development, and construction of prototype equipment and components.
  • Utilize judgment to assess priorities of multiple work orders and consulting with the supervisor when necessary.
  • Maintain an inventory of crucial components and support instrumentation, to ensure that repairs and maintenance can be conducted on demand.
  • Support and share knowledge with fellow CAS team members.
Requirements
  • Bachelor, Diploma, or Trade level qualification plus equivalent working experience, in an electrical/electronics/mechatronics engineering discipline is essential.
  • Experience with configurable or programmable controls or devices is desirable.
  • Experience working in an industrial or scientific environment is desirable.
  • Experience using workshop tools and machinery to manufacture and modify components is desirable.
  • Experience maintaining, assembling, and installing systems from engineering drawings and manuals is desirable.
  • Ability to complete engineering drawings using CAD software is desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience diagnosing and rectifying systems faults and instrumentation faults and applying knowledge of modern maintenance practices in an industrial and scientific plant is desirable.
