Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer

This is a challenging role that requires strong technical expertise in mechanical engineering. As a senior mechanical engineer, you will be responsible for conducting field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project's mechanical aspects.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field and 8-10 years of relevant experience. Alternatively, the candidate may have 12-14 years of relevant work experience without a degree.

The successful candidate will lead the design, development, modification, and evaluation of mechanical components and processes. This includes evaluating and applying standard mechanical engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria for a project or assignment in support of a global business unit or staff group.

Main Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and apply standard mechanical engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria for a project or assignment in support of a global business unit or staff group.
  • Design, develop, modify, and evaluate mechanical components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards, and guides.
  • Prepare or assist in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals.
  • Coordinate mechanical engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, clients, vendors, contractors, construction, and other functional groups.
  • Provide guidance to other mechanical engineering personnel for specific tasks or projects.
  • Offer technical assistance to other mechanical personnel and interact with project functions, customers, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues.
  • Provide technical inputs and evaluations in support of the procurement of mechanical equipment, including pre-award activities and post-award support of equipment suppliers.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong knowledge of systems, calculations, equipment, applications of methods, materials, and computers in the discipline, and of engineering work planning and control methods.
  • Experience in copper with slurry pumping and handling systems.
  • Experience in the design and specification of bulk materials handling equipment and other mechanical equipment commonly used in mining and metals projects.
  • Knowledge of precedents in the discipline and of principles and practices of related disciplines.
  • Knowledge of related construction practices and the economics involved.
  • Broad knowledge of industry/regulatory codes and standards, and design and/or layout criteria pertinent to the mechanical discipline.
  • Proficiency in oral and written communication.
