About Rydges Pit Lane Hotel

We're looking for an experienced Commis Chef to join our culinary team.

  • Cooking, baking, pastry preparation, or butchering
  • Assisting with supervision of kitchen staff
  • Adhering to food hygiene and safety standards

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with menu planning and inventory management
  • Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene
  • Coordinate with front of house staff on menu items and updates
  • Supervise kitchen operations in the absence of senior chefs
  • Evaluate presentation standards for all dishes
  • Manage food costs within specified margins
  • Follow FIFO policy and maintain cleanliness and equipment standards
  • Coordinate with stewarding team for cleanliness and equipment levels
  • Communicate effectively with staff and report issues to senior chefs
  • Support on-the-job training and development
  • Perform additional duties as required

Requirements

  • Proven cooking and supervisory skills at the level of Commis Chef
  • High standards in food preparation, presentation, and service
  • Current Food Safety training, refreshed annually
  • Participation in training programs as required
