  • We are seeking a Chief Legal Officer to join our team in Sydney.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert legal advice to key stakeholders and project teams, contributing to the strategy and success of business operations. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Drafting and negotiating general commercial contracts with a focus on delivering value-added agreements.
  2. Providing guidance on contract law, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  3. Managing, negotiating, and advising on a range of commercial IT agreements to support business growth.
  4. Reviewing and advising on intellectual property matters and privacy law to protect our client's interests.
  5. Keeping the business up to date on regulatory issues, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  6. Mentoring and managing more junior lawyers in the team, promoting knowledge sharing and best practices.
  7. Liaising closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless collaboration.

Key Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  1. A minimum of 8 years of post-qualification experience gained in-house or from a respected private practice firm.
  2. Broad-ranging corporate, regulatory, and commercial law experience.
  3. Prior exposure to commercial IT agreements, with a strong understanding of the latest trends and developments.
  4. A resilient and calm demeanor, with a solutions-focused approach.
  5. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Location

Salary Estimate

The estimated salary for this role is AU$180,000 - AU$220,000 per annum, depending on your level of experience and qualifications.
