Role Overview

The role of a Waiting List Officer is pivotal in managing patients on the Planned Surgery Waiting List from a clerical perspective.

  • They receive and process waiting list forms from specialist clinics, private rooms, and other areas of healthcare services within stipulated time frames as per DHHS Elective Surgery Access Policy.
  • Accurately creating, recording, and updating the Waiting List Screen on Patient Administration System (PAS) as required ensures seamless data management.
  • Queries from patients and clinicians pertaining to clinical management are forwarded to Surgical Liaison Nurse for prompt attention.
  • Monitoring Category 1 patients to ensure timely admission within 30 days is crucial to maintaining efficient service delivery.
  • Category 2 and 3 patients must also be monitored to guarantee access to surgery within category timeframe.

Classifications for this position range from HS1 - HS17 ($58,442 - $64,610 per annum pro rata) plus over award ($4.4447 per hour).

To excel in this role, candidates should have relevant experience in administration within a healthcare setting, proficiency with patient administration systems, working knowledge of Microsoft office including Outlook, Word, and Excel, and a current National criminal history check or willingness to obtain one.
