Job Title: Genomic Research Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Genomic Research Scientist. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about genomic research and wants to contribute to cutting-edge projects.

About the Role:
  • Process and prepare various types of human specimens under supervision
  • Perform DNA/RNA and high-molecular weight DNA extractions, including quality control steps
  • Maintain detailed records, manage sample inventories, and support biobanking activities
  • Liaise with genomic facilities and support lab members in coordinating research activities
  • Assist in data entry, word processing, and maintaining laboratory spreadsheets
  • Support the lab manager with administrative tasks, ordering supplies, and managing communications
  • Engage in problem-solving and adopt new techniques and protocols as required
About You:
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience
  • Experience working with human specimens and performing molecular techniques such as RT-qPCR and DNA/RNA extractions, high-molecular weight (HMW) DNA extraction, optical genome mapping (OGM)
  • Strong laboratory documentation and record-keeping skills, proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, and basic computational tools
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including responsiveness to emails and professional correspondence
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain working relationships with internal team members and external collaborators
  • Proven problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn and apply new laboratory techniques
  • High level of organisation, trustworthiness, and the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively
