Senior / Principal Mechanical Engineer - Water Sector

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior to Principal grade Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering teams in Newcastle. The successful candidate will have experience in detailed design within the water industry and a degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant subject.

The role will involve full project life cycle, from feasibility and optioneering through to detailed design and construction support. You will lead mechanical design for infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects, including water/wastewater treatment plants, conveyance systems, pumping stations and more.

You will work closely with project managers, technical leaders, design engineers, clients, supply chain partners, contractors, planners and other stakeholders to deliver positive project outcomes. Mentorship and guidance of junior engineers within the team is also a key aspect of this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Involved in the full project life cycle, from feasibility and optioneering through to detailed design and construction support.
  • Lead mechanical design for infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects.
  • Work closely with project managers, technical leaders, design engineers, clients, supply chain partners, contractors, planners and other stakeholders.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers within the team.
Requirements

Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant subject; ideally Chartered status or working toward.

Experience in detailed design within the water industry; background working for/with delivery contractors would be beneficial.
