Family Therapist Role

We are seeking a dedicated Family Therapist to provide trauma-informed care, outreach, and therapeutic counselling services to vulnerable families.

As an experienced Family Therapist, you will work in partnership with families to enhance their safety, parenting capacity, and placement stability.

You will be valued for your expertise in assessment, formulation, collaboration, and skills in therapeutic work. You will also have the opportunity to gain experience in working with families affected by violence abuse and neglect (VAN).

In this role, you will work closely with a dedicated team of professionals to provide therapy, care coordination, and advocacy for families facing child protection concerns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide trauma-informed care and therapeutic services to vulnerable families
  • Work collaboratively with families to enhance their safety and parenting capacity
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of individualised case plans
  • Engage with Aboriginal Health and Family Workers to support Aboriginal families
  • Collaborate with other professionals to provide a comprehensive service response

Requirements:

  • Qualifications in a relevant field, such as social work, psychology, or counselling
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations, including children and families
  • Strong understanding of trauma, child protection, and domestic and family violence
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
