Urban Renewal Leader

The role of Communications and Engagement Manager plays a pivotal part in leading the way for communications and engagement with impacted communities during major redevelopment projects throughout planning, procurement, and delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement place-based communication and stakeholder engagement strategies for construction and delivery projects across redevelopment precincts.
  2. Collaborate with program-wide communication and stakeholder engagement teams to align localised strategies with broader social objectives.
  3. Provide strategic advice to project directors on project-specific communication challenges and opportunities.
  4. Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including program managers, architects, engineers, and delivery teams, to facilitate multidisciplinary discussions; and external stakeholders, including community groups, councils, and contractors, to ensure effective communication during infrastructure delivery and redevelopment.

Required Skills and Experience
  • Minimum 5 years' experience leading communications and stakeholder engagement for major projects in government, not-for-profit, or private sectors.
  • Extensive experience managing diverse stakeholder relationships including contractors, senior stakeholders, community groups, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, influencing, and collaboration skills to resolve issues and drive outcomes in complex environments.
  • Deep knowledge of best practice in infrastructure communication, managing local disruption and change, understanding of Victoria's planning legislation, PPPs, and engagement frameworks.
