Key Responsibilities

Execute high-standard mechanical rebuilds of underground mining equipment in line with OEM specifications.

Job Description

As a skilled mechanical fitter, you will be responsible for the disassembly, inspection, repair and reassembly of mining equipment and components. This includes:

  • Strip-down and disassembly of underground mining equipment and components
  • Clean, measure, and assess component wear using precision tools and inspection techniques
  • Repair or replace parts and components in accordance with OEM standards
  • Reassemble and torque components using correct procedures and specifications
  • Perform pressure, bench, and function testing to ensure operational readiness

You will work closely with electricians, machinists, boilermakers, and other team members to ensure all work complies with safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout, confined space, and lifting procedures.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Trade qualification: Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitter)
  • 3–5 years' experience maintaining or rebuilding heavy equipment (mining preferred)
  • Experience overhauling hydraulic and mechanical components
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
