Victim Support Counsellor Role

This is a challenging opportunity for an experienced counselling professional to join our team in Launceston.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver high-standard trauma-informed clinical practice working with individuals impacted by sexual assault and children/young people displaying harmful sexual behavior.
  • Report to the Senior Counsellor and collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide training on topics related to sexual assault and harm prevention for young people and adult learners.
  • Maintain a child-safe organisation, promoting the rights of children and young people.

This is a fixed-term part-time position available until December 2026. While it's a temporary role, there may be opportunities for individuals to transition into permanent positions within the organisation.

Requirements:
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in counselling, social work, psychology or equivalent qualification, or occupational therapy with mental health accreditation.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of sexual assault impacts and dynamics, along with experience in trauma-informed counselling.
  • Experience working with children and young people displaying harmful sexual behavior.
  • An understanding of sexual assault through an intersectional approach considering gender and other inequalities producing unique violence experiences.
  • Ability to quickly acquire knowledge of Tasmanian legislation and policies regarding sexual assault, child protection and family violence.
